Sarah Jessica Parker Turns Out for Burberry
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Models, News,
Fashion week regular Sarah Jessica Parker was among the celebrities in attendance at the Burberry Prorsum fashion show in London yesterday.
The Sex and the City actress donned a military style jacket and a brown skirt for proceedings at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, with TV presenters Cat Deeley and Alexa Chung wearing similar ensembles.
The collection, designed by Burberry stalwart Christopher Bailey, was a sexy combination of animal prints and leather, with studded biker jackets making an appearance on many of the models. Bright, acid yellows and blues also dotted the catwalk - sometimes in the form of belts and bags and others in dresses - adding to the usual khakis and black so associated with Burberry.

Jonathan Saunders Thanks His Upbringing
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, News,
Fashion designer Jonathan Saunders says his Jehovah’s Witness upbringing pushed him to succeed in the clothing industry.
The Scottish-born designer - who wowed critics with his floral designs for Spring/Summer 2011 at London Fashion Week - admitted he hasn’t spoken to his religious parents since he left home at the age of 16 to pursue a career in fashion.
“You have to go without something to really want it. I’m quite thankful for my upbringing because of that. It pushed me to get what I want,” said Jonathan, who is renowned for his edgy geometric designs.
The 32-year-old also revealed that moving into the world of design was a shock to the system after a fashion-free childhood. Speaking about his time studying at the Glasgow School of Art, he explained, “Even the physical environment of the art school was influential - it was my first introduction to modernism.”
However he found his time at Central Saint Martins - where he graduated with an MA in printed designs - even tougher. “It was the biggest awakening. They embrace frivolity. It was a whole other level of fashion that was fascinating to me and I felt completely out of my depth,” he added.

—Forget the hassle of putting on and removing your clothes! Engineer Paul Luckham and designer Manel Torres have created spray-on clothing that actually turns into fabric when it touches the body, allowing you to recycle the article.
—Coco Rocha takes the cover of Russian Tatler, her first cover as a married woman. What goes best with a gorgeous designer gown? A giant teddy bear, of course.
—Victoria Beckham appeared on The View recently to promote her latest collection. In addition to explaining what a dream come true this is for her, she expressed her desire to design clothes for curvy women: “I want to celebrate a woman’s curves, though you’re right, I don’t have that many myself… I love a woman’s body and I want to make women look and feel fantastic.”

Kim Kardashian Needs Make-Up

Reality star-turned-entrepreneur Kim Kardashian needs to be wearing make-up to feel sexy.
The 29-year-old socialite explained that while people think she looks like “a 19-year-old” when she opts for the natural look, she prefers the “glamour girl” look.
“When I don’t have make-up on, everyone’s like, ‘Whoa, you look 19!’ But I’m a glamour girl. I love make-up. I love hair. I don’t feel sexy unless I’m fully made-up.”
Despite the brunette beauty admitting that having Botox injections in the past was “not a good experience”, she wouldn’t be adverse to going under the knife for a more invasive procedure in the future.
“You know, I’ve tried Botox. I felt it made my eyes more, like, squinty and small. It was not a good experience for me. You have to grow old gracefully. I don’t know if I’ll be saying that after kids - I may want a lift or something - so I’m definitely not opposed to it. But I don’t have the butt implants everyone says I have!”
Stella McCartney Launches Menswear Range

Stella McCartney has launched her first men’s lifestyle collection.
The British designer, who is the visionary behind the Great Britain kit for the 2012 Olympic Games, is celebrating her new role by unveiling three sports-inspired collections, which cater for both men and women.
“This is the first lifestyle-inspired collection and apart from bespoke tailoring, it’s the first time I’ve ever done anything for men. It’s interesting to be able to work on both men’s and women’s looks in a more casual sporting arena, and to have a kind of easiness to them that appeals to people but still has a sort of edge, an element of the language of the Olympic games and Team GB.”
The new menswear collection will celebrate the Best of British and is to feature T-shirts, track pants and hooded sweatshirts in the designer’s signature clean-cut style. Meanwhile, the women’s line will “focus on the art of layering,” with tank tops and capes among the pieces on offer.
French Vogue Celebrates 90th Anniversary With Lara Stone’s Breasts

While French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld made it clear that the magazine's 90th anniversary issue was going to be big, I didn't realize that they meant zooming in on model Lara Stone's large chest for the cover! "Vogue Paris has always played the card of audacity. We couldn't do a lukewarm issue," Roitfeld said. Again, I never expected Vogue to disappoint; however, I don't necessarily agree with bringing the supposedly-classy fashion pages down to Playboy status. Is the October issue of the fashion glossy too much or just the right amount of shocking?

“Silly stories, where do they come from? I have enormous respect and admiration for Hermes so to read ‘Beckham is the new Birkin’ is yet another totally ridiculous tabloid fabrication. I will not be trading in my Birkin!”

VIDEO: Emma Watson Models for People Tree
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Models, Videos,
Emma Watson continues to front the People Tree brand, for which she acts as a creative advisor.
This time around, the Harry Potter star is showing off her extremely short hair, and she looks great! She may be selling me on the hair, but I’m not so sure if these summertime dresses would be right for the upcoming cold season. The brand does get major bonus points for being fair-trade.

Olivia Palermo Signed as New Face of Mango
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, Models, News,
From a supporting friend
actress on The City, Olivia Palermo is moving her career up to modeling status as the new face of Mango. The 24-year-old beauty will star alongside model boyfriend Johannes Heubl in the campaign, which she admits was initially embarrassing to shoot.
“At first, it was really embarrassing - but then I remembered it was just him and I could be normal - so then it was really fun.”
However, she is unsure if the Spanish brand - which is also fronted by Scarlett Johansson and Poppy Delevigne - will show the shoot internationally. “I don’t know about that but I’m really pleased to have done it.”
It is not yet clear if she will design her own range of clothes for the store as former models Penelope Cruz and Milla Jovovich have done. Earlier this month, Olivia confessed she has a whole host of ambitions in the fashion industry: “I want to act, model, try it all. Designing a collection will come in time.”
“I play around with different styles. I don’t think I can wear the clothes I wore when I was 20, now that I’m 24,” she explained.
Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane Switch Up Runway Traditions
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Models, News,
Giles Deacon marked his return to London Fashion Week yesterday by showcasing a feminine, floral collection.
The British designer - who until this year has debuted his pieces at Paris Fashion Week - juxtaposed curve-enhancing floral dresses with outlandish sci-fi stage make-up on his all-star cast of models. As well as iconic British models Agyness Dean and Amber Le Bon, Deacon shunned the size zero trend by sending curvier stars Kelly Brook and a pregnant Abbey Clancy down the runway.
However, Amber Le Bon didn’t only lend her talents to one designer yesterday, as she also modelled for Canadian designer Mark Fast, who trained at London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins college, who gave his signature knitted dresses a colourful twist.
Elsewhere, Christopher Kane channeled the Spring/Summer 2011 trend of bright colors in his collection, with his “aristocrat gone bad” theme pushing fashion boundaries with neon vinyl, orange and fuchsia lace and graphic prints: “There’s been so much white and minimalism, I just reacted against that. I don’t want that. I don’t see that as being modern. To me, I think it’s old and used.”
